The Scottish Government is continuing aim to ensure that the long-term clinical needs of
serving personnel and veterans are better understood and supported within the NHS. A key
step towards achieving this is knowing who and where our veteran population is which in
turn will help us to support veterans to access the right help and at the right time. By
optimising the use of and directing patients to appropriate veteran specific resources this in
turn could ‘free-up’ resources and contribute to better supporting our veterans health and
deliver on our Armed Forces Covenant commitments
