COVID-19 Vaccination Programme
The Covid-19 vaccination programme has started. It is being managed and administered locally by Dumfries and Galloway Health Board. The first people being vaccinated are the Care Home Residents, Health and Social Care Staff and the over-80s. We will then be moving to the over 75’s and so on, through the priority groups.
The priority groups and in what order they will be vaccinated were decided by the Scottish Government and the UK scientific advisory body on vaccines (Joint Committee of Vaccination and Immunisation).
The vaccine is being administered by the central immunisation team at local centres, much like the annual flu vaccinations. In Annan, this will be at Charles Street.
When we are directed to do so by the Health Board we will be identifying which patients on our list fall into the next category to be tested. We will be contacting those patients directly to arrange an appointment.
If you have a relative in your household who is staying with you as a Temporary Resident, and they fall into the vaccination category, they will be vaccinated. Please ensure that they are registered with us and their Temporary Residence has not lapsed.
PLEASE DO NOT RING THE SURGERY TO ASK FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO GET THE VACCINATION. We will be contacting you when you are eligible to receive it. In the meantime you can find more information about the vaccination and how it will be administered at nhsinform.scot and NHSDG.co.uk/vaccines and there is a national vaccination helpline, which you can access between 8am and 8pm 7 days a week on 0800 030 8013.
